In Isanti County, the Commissioners voted 4-0 to reject funding for electronic poll books, citing a lack of public trust in the election system. Commissioner Alan Duff, Chair of the Isanti County Board, stated, “In general, the public really doesn’t trust the election system,” reflecting sentiment among constituents who prefer paper rosters over electronic systems. Isanti residents do not trust electronic poll books (KNOWiNK Poll Pads), were concerned about the cost, cybersecurity risks, and voters preferred traditional paper methods.
The cost of electronic poll books was a significant factor in Isanti’s decision. According to the Isanti County News Review publication, the cost of the poll books for the entire county was set at $97,670, which included a three-year maintenance license.
